Robert C. Knight, 80, of Chiefland, Fla., passed away Feb. 21 following a short illness. Robert “Bob” was born in Lakeside on June 21, 1941, the son of Robert William and Velma (Wahlers) Knight. Following the death of his mother when he was four, he would be raised by his father and stepmother, Dorothy (Nichols) Knight, along with his older sister Barbara.
Bob graduated from Danbury High School, excelling in many different sports. He served in the United States Navy for seven years and then began his career with Southern Bell/AT&T. It was during this time that he met and married his Georgia Peach, Mona (Grant). Together they had 2 children, Randy and Jennifer. Bob was very active in his church, singing in the choir and serving as a leader in youth activities. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and cultivating his friendships and land.
He is survived by his wife, Mona, children Randy (Tabitha) and Jennifer (Todd); grandchildren, Zachary (Holly), Harrison, and Emily, sister, Barbara (Knight) Harger, aunt, Karen (Wahlers) Conrad, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, brother-in-law, Ronald Harger, and nephew, Robert James Harger.
Funeral services were held at 1st Baptist Church, Chiefland, Fla.
