OAK HARBOR — In a back-and-forth game that featured a number of twists and turns, Oak Harbor played well when it mattered most.
Emily Sommers hit a walk-off double to score Remi Gregory in the bottom of the eighth inning to send the Rockets to a 7-6 victory over Northview in the championship game of the Croll Invitational.
Oak Harbor held a 3-1 lead before the Wildcats scored four runs to go ahead 5-3. The Rockets rallied to tie it at 5-5 in the bottom half of the inning. Northview scored a run in the top of the seventh and Oak Harbor again answered with a run in the bottom half of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.
Remi Gregory hit two doubles and drove in two runs for the Rockets. Reagan Schultz got the win in the circle.
In the first game, Oak Harbor (14-6) scored nine runs in the first inning and cruised to a 12-2 victory. Schultz had three hits, scored three runs and drove in four runs.
Oak Harbor 16, Port Clinton 0 (5 innings)
Oak Harbor scored nine runs in the first inning and never looked back in its 16-0 victory in five innings over Port Clinton.
Reagan Schultz threw a no-hitter and had three hits at the plate. Alyse Sorg and Remi Gregory drove in three runs and Lauren St. Clair had two RBIs.
Oak Harbor 10, Gibsonburg 3
Gibsonburg scored one run in the first inning to take an early lead, but Oak Harbor scored three runs in the third to take control in its 10-3 victory over the Golden Bears.
Cienna Heineman got the win in the circle, filling in for Reagan Schultz. Kori Helle had three RBIs, Emma Martin drove in two runs and Ellie Hanselman, Remi Gregory and Porter Gregory had two hits apiece.
Jenna Bloomfield and Camren Krotzer both hit home runs for Gibsonburg.
Port Clinton 16, Willard 13
Port Clinton and Willard battled in a close game with the Redskins holding off the Crimson Flashes to earn a 16-13 victory.
Alliyan Wharton and Sarah Webb both hit home runs to lead Port Clinton, Abbey Hittepole was 3-of-5 and finished with three RBIs.
Bri Rose got the win for the ‘Skins.
Ashley Hamons, Macey Robinson and Savannah Rodriguez all had one double.
Danbury 6, Western Reserve 0
Danbury scored one run in the first inning to take the lead for good in its 6-0 win over Western Reserve.
Ellie Fish got the win for the Lakers and Michaela Harris finished with two hits and two RBIs. Alayna Mahler had a double to help pace Danbury.
