Ronald C. Cooley, 75, of Lakeside-Marblehead, OH, died Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Stein Hospice following a brief illness. He was born October 4, 1950, in Monroe, MI, to Gaylord and Delta Marceil (Busz) Cooley. He was a 1968 graduate of Danbury High School, then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Ron was a union carpenter working for Mosser Construction out of Fremont, OH. retiring in 2006. On May 22, 1987, he married the former Barbara Stayancho-Smith, and she survives.

Ron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post #7572, both in Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. After his retirement, he enjoyed vacationing and traveling to Florida during the winter months. He was an avid reader of novels and a dedicated sports fan of his Ohio teams, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Survivors include his wife Barbara; children: Martin J. Smith and Elizabeth Prowant; grandchildren: CJ (Sidney) Prowant & Amelia Prowant; sister: Sharon (Felix Jr.) Polanco, nephew: Gabriel Polanco; brother: Dennis (Helen Jean) Cooley, nieces Michelle Cooley & Melinda Cooley; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Delta Cooley; his nephew, Matthew Polanco and his son-in-law, Jeremy Prowant.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am on Monday, September 21, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH with the family to receive friends beginning at 10am at the Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH. Memorial Contributions may be given to V.F.W. #7572 or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
