MARBLEHEAD – Rose Sabin’s personal health journey inspired her to open a yoga, cycle and wellness café business that has impacted the health of thousands of people. But that was not enough for Sabin, whose compassion for people and passion for life always has her looking to the next, better journey.

This spring, Sabin will open the new location for her businesses – Soul Stretch Yoga & Cycle and Root to Rise Wellness Café – which were constructed on a quiet, calming plot of land in Marblehead. Later this year, she will add a gift shop, event center and greenhouse, and, in 2026, she will construct a gazebo bar and add Airbnb units.

“It’s going to have a campus feel, very much like the Ørchard and Gideon Owen,” Sabin said.

Longtime clients of Sabin’s businesses will be thrilled with this new phase of her journey. The new spin studio was designed with a New York City studio vibe, and the new, larger yoga studio features expansive, calming views of the backyard.

In addition to yoga, the new studio will offer classes in dance fitness, Pilates, barre flow and stretch.

Locals have long been grateful for the wellness café’s healthy breakfast and lunch options, but the new café will feature extended hours and an expanded menu made in the café’s ayurvedic scratch kitchen featuring fresh, organic and natural ingredients. The new café is bigger and brighter and features several tables nestled near a large fireplace.

“We’re now an ayurvedic scratch kitchen, and we’re rebranding the café into a coffee and wine bar. People want to go someplace with an old coffeehouse community feel,” Sabin said. “We’re seeing this trend, with coffeehouses obtaining beer and wine licenses.”

The future event center will offer an intimate venue for small weddings and other events. Guests are welcome to bring their own food or caterers to the center, which will seat about 100. The gift shop, Sabin said, will have a “fun, bohemian feel” and feature mostly local products like honey, the work of area artisans, and plants from the greenhouse.

Sabin is grateful she trusted her project with contractors Trent Smythe of Smythe Construction and Brian Shortridge of Shortridge Construction.

“Trent does above ground, and Brian does below ground,” she said. “I love when I find contractors who get me and see it through. It works well when you work with good people.”

Sabin hopes the new studio and café will be open by May 1. When the entire project is done, the campus will be a destination site that compliments nearby businesses like Ferguson Gallery and Beach Glass Lounge next-door. She also plans to utilize nearby East Harbor State Park for outdoor cycling and walking classes.

Her plans for the campus include community events like farmers markets, wellness seminars and yoga retreats.

“This location is so peaceful,” she said. “We can better serve Lakeside and Marblehead here without losing Port Clinton and Catawba.”
