OAK HARBOR — Get outdoors and Run for the Refuge!
The Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge’s virtual race will promote healthy lifestyles while raising funds for conservation at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.
Since it’s a virtual race, runners and walkers can complete the 1 mile, 5k or 10k race on their own at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, in their neighborhoods, or even on a treadmill.
Run for the Refuge! will be held July 1 – Aug. 8, and 100% of the $15 registration fee will support conservation efforts at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Additionally, race t-shirts, tanks, hoodies, medals, and water bottles are available for purchase through July 18. Those interested in participating may sign up at www.friendsofottawanwr.org/virtual-race.html
The habitats in the 10,600-acre Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Complex play a critical role in the Lake Erie ecosystem, acting as the kidneys of the landscape; working to protect NW Ohio’s drinking water, work, and leisure. They also provide important nesting and stopover habitat for birds, fish, and wildlife.
Lace up your running shoes and help to protect these critical habitats and plan your visit today: www.friendsofottawanwr.org/plan-your-visit.html
