Sandusky Blue Streaks lose first game of the season

The 6-1 Sandusky Blue Streaks (2-0 Sandusky Bay – Lake Conference) Boys Varsity Basketball team was on the road Jan. 4 to take on the Bellevue Redmen who are 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the Sandusky Bay – Lake Conference. Sandusky lost their first game of the season to Toledo Whitmer 84-71 on Dec. 29, which put Sandusky into a tie with Tiffin Columbian for the lead in conference games.

Sandusky wasted no time opening up an early lead just 20 seconds into the game, which they maintained throughout the game. Sandusky got back to their winning ways with a 64-53 victory. With this win, Sandusky is now 7-1 overall and 3-0 in conference action. Leading the scoring for Sandusky was Jason Henlon with 20 points and Kobe Brown added 17 points. Bellevue was able to score five 3-pointers in the second quarter but couldn’t close in on Sandusky’s lead.

In the third quarter, Logan Hartley for Bellevue scored 10 straight points but Sandusky would come back with more points to enjoy a 13-point lead at the end of the third quarter. The leading scorers for Bellevue were Logan Hartley with 15 points, Joel Ray with 14 points and Ike Brown with 11 points.
