The Sandusky County Visitors Bureau is thrilled to announce the commencement of the highly anticipated America 250 Barn Mural project, which began on June 11 at 3387 West State St. in Fremont. Renowned artist Scott Hagan, known affectionately as the Barn Artist, will lend his expertise to this monumental endeavor.

The America 250 Barn Mural, a collaboration between the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau and the America 250 committee, marks the latest addition to the county’s esteemed Barn Mural Trail. With six captivating murals already adorning the landscape, this seventh installment promises to be a breathtaking tribute to American history and heritage.

Hagan, celebrated nationally for his captivating barn murals, brings his unique artistic vision to this project, infusing the rural countryside with vibrant colors and compelling imagery. Since partnering with Hagan in 2017 to establish the Barn Mural Trail, the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau has been committed to preserving and celebrating the region’s rich cultural tapestry.

The decision to feature an America 250-themed mural in Northwest Ohio underscores the significance of the region in commemorating this historic milestone. Spearheaded by Todd Kleismit, Executive Director of the America 250-Ohio Commission, the initiative aims to engage communities across the nation in a series of events, celebrations and commemorative projects.  When the Visitors Bureau heard that the search for Northwest Ohio barns was ongoing, it applied for the grant, and Sandusky County was selected. A ribbon cutting will be announced at a later date.

“We are honored to be selected as the site for this landmark mural,” said David Thornbury, Marketing Director of the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau. “This project not only celebrates our nation’s legacy but also highlights the beauty and charm of our rural landscape.”
