Wednesday December 1
- Make Your Own Advent Calendar, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.; Children. Tis the season to start counting down to December 25th.
- Letters to Santa, Erie Islands Library; Children. Birth to Grade 3. Santa Claus has asked the librarians to help him out this holiday season by accepting letters to him. Stop by the library to get your official letter form to write to Santa. All classes coming to the library during December 1-10 will receive this letter form. Others may stop by the library. All letters will receive a reply from Santa.
Thursday December 2
- Baby Bookworms with Miss Chloe, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 10:55 a.m.; Children. Little ones and their parents are invited to join Miss Chloe for a story time full of books, music, and toys.
- Mystery Book Discussion, Ida Rupp Public Library; 7–8 p.m.; Adults. December’s Mystery Book Discussion title is The Bodies Left Behind by Jeffery Deaver.
Monday December 6
- Holiday Cookie Decorating, Ida Rupp Public Library; 6–7 p.m.; Children. Come decorate some holiday sugar cookies with Miss Kristen.
- Grab and Go Craft Kit for Adults – Vintage Felt Baubles, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; Adult. Stop by the library to pick up everything you need to make your own vintage felt baubles while supplies last.
- Books & Brews, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 6:30–8 p.m.; Adults. Join this lively group on the patio of Jamestown Tavern to talk about your new and old favorites. Each month we also have a genre goal. For this meeting, we have decided to read holiday themed book.
Tuesday December 7
- Tales for Tots with Miss Kristen, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30–11:30 a.m.; Children. Join Miss Kristen for stories, songs and playtime.
- The Long & Winding Phone, Ida Rupp Public Library; 6–7 p.m.; Adults. Are you a fan of Rock & Roll and pop culture? Join us at the library with freelance writer Helen Marketti as she shares her phone interviews with celebrities and musicians over the years.
- Cinnamon Dough Ornaments, Erie Islands Library; 4:30–5:15 p.m.; Children. Everyone is welcome to make cinnamon dough ornaments with us. We’ll have all the supplies.
Wednesday December 8
- LGBTQ+ 101 with Kaleidoscope Youth Center, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3–4 p.m.; Teens. Amanda Erickson from the organization Kaleidoscope Youth Center of Columbus, Ohio will be joining Mrs. Magrum to allow teens grades 6 – 12 to ask and discuss in an open but guided forum. - Make Your Own Burlap Wreath, Erie Islands Library; 1–2 p.m.; Adults. Need another decoration for your beautiful home this holiday season? Join us as we make this simple burlap wreath. We have the wire wreath forms and the rolls of burlap. Patrons are encouraged to sign up in advance.

- Pulitzer Prize Book Club, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 4–5 p.m.; Adults. Have you ever read a Pulitzer Prize winning book? Now is your chance to read one and discuss it with a lively group! This month the group will discuss the winner from 1953, The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway.
Friday December 10
- DIY Holiday Cards, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3–4 p.m.; Children. Children are invited to create unique and handmade holiday cards for themselves or loved ones just in time for the holiday season. All supplied provided.
Monday December 13
- Music Wreaths, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3–5 p.m.; Adults. Music is easily a big part of the holiday season and helps put one in the Christmas spirit. Join us as the library to celebrate this holiday season with a mini musical wreath craft. All supplies provided. This is an Adult program using hot glue guns.
- Christmas Story Time, Erie Islands Library; 10:30–11 a.m.; Children. Join Librarian Karen Wilhelm for a half hour of reading, song and a craft to take home. Parents, caregivers asked to stay with their children.
Tuesday December 14
- Tales for Tots with Miss Kristen, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30–11:30 a.m.; Children. Join Miss Kristen for stories, songs and playtime at the library.
- Euchre Club, Ida Rupp Public Library; 6–7:45 p.m.; Adults. Join us for fun evening of Euchre. This patron led group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month.
- Hot Wheels Night at the Library, Erie Islands Library; 4:30–5:15 p.m.; Children. Join us at the library to design your own race track for Hot Wheel cars. We have everything needed: Tracks, connectors, cars. Fun for all ages. Snack will be served.
Wednesday December 15
- Grab and Go Craft Kit for Kids – Have Yourself a Merry Little Grinchmas, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; Children. Stop by the library to pick up your Grinch-themed craft bonanza while supplies last.
- Grab and Go Craft Kit for Adults – Corky Reindeer, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; Children. Stop in and grab all the supplies you need to make a couple of corky reindeer while supplies last.
- Sips & Series, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 6:30–8 p.m.; Adults. Are you looking for a binge worthy series to watch, but don’t know how you could possibly choose? Come join us for a discussion of all things watch worthy at Rocky Point Winery.
- Words & Wine Book Club, Erie Islands Library; 5:30–6:30 p.m.; Adults. Join us and share a book you have read while enjoying a beverage of your own choosing. Location to be announced two weeks prior.
Thursday December 16

- Create Your Own Comics, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3–4 p.m.; Teens. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to create their own comic strips. Each teen will go home with a free comic book. Thank you to The Pop Shop for the gracious comic donations!
- Hop Aboard the Polar Express, Erie Islands Library; 5–6:30 p.m.; Children. Hop aboard the Polar Express at the Erie Islands Library. Watch the “Polar Express” in your pajamas while drinking cocoa and eating munchies. Be sure to stop in the library for your ticket to enter the train!
Monday December 20
- Break a Dish to Destress!, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10–11 a.m.; Teens. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to de-stress during winter break. Meet outside behind the library to “break away” from one of your biggest stressors by writing it down on a dish and then breaking the dish.
Tuesday December 21
- Tales for Tots with Miss Kristen, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30–11:30 a.m.; Children. Join Miss Kristen for stories, songs and playtime at the library.
- Tuesday Morning Book Club, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30–11:30 a.m.; Adults. Tuesday Morning Book Club is back! Join us at R Coffee Corner to discuss this month’s book, The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Pick up a copy of the book at the public services desk. Wednesday December 22

- Resolve to Evolve the New Year, Ida Rupp Public Library; 4–5 p.m.; Adults. Join us at the library with lifestyle coach Rose Sabin as she shares her tips and tricks to starting off the New Year right. Through the practice of self-reflection, a discussion of healthy eating, and simple exercises, Sabin will show us how to break old habits and reset for 2022. *Registration required.
