A lighted Christmas Parade, Christmas tree lighting, and boys and girls having the chance to sit on the laps of Santa and Mrs. Claus will bring holiday festivities to downtown Port Clinton on Saturday, Dec. 2, and many local merchants will feature holiday surprises for the annual crowd.
The Christmas activities will take over Madison Street from 2-5 p.m., and that includes visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Ala Carte After Hours from 3-5 p.m. The annual Lighted Christmas Parade, complete with Port Clinton Fire Engines and community floats and marchers, is at 5:30 p.m., and will wrap up with a Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m.
The Lighted Christmas Parade will begin its musical march at Monroe Street and slowly head east on Second Street, gathering at Adams Street Park for holiday music and the Christmas Tree Lighting.
Port Clinton’s downtown merchants and restaurants will be hosting afternoon open houses, and many of their windows will be adorned with holiday themes in order to compete in the annual Window Decorating Contest.
A variety of shops will feature their own special versions of gourmet chili for the annual Chili Tasting Competition, giving revelers the chance to taste and vote for the best concoctions — as well as the decorated windows — at the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce Office before 5 p.m.
Sponsoring shops, according to host Main Street Port Clinton, include: Ala Carte Café; Bayside Comfort; Bolte Insurance; Century 21, Bolte Real Estate; Our Guest Inn; Frederick Agency; Genoa Bank; Hartung Title; Mary’s Blossom Shoppe; Shorty’s Custom Remodeling; Tru Luv Jewelers; Young’s Floor Covering; and The Gristmill.
