Dave Schwan and his family are supporting the Humane Society of Ottawa County with sales of a coloring book he has illustrated and co-authored with his wife, Tonya Tack, and their daughter, Evelyn, 11, a timely consultant.
“Doggy Doodles: Coloring for a Cause” features 30 unique pages of hand-drawn, adorable dogs of all shapes and sizes in funny and endearing situations. Schwan has an art degree from Bowling Green State University, and works as an IT technician, programmer and creates web sites.
“It is unique in that the coloring book has been appealing to both children and adults,” said Schwan, who graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1999. “Our daughter, Evelyn, has had an uncanny ability to tell us when each drawing is just right.”
A portion of each coloring book sold goes to the Humane Society. To order a coloring book, go to the Facebook page of Humane Society of Ottawa County, or visit the website HSOCpets.org and click on the link to order. Cost is $9.99. Coloring books are also available for sale at the Humane Society, 2424 Sand Rd., Port Clinton and at the Lake House, 3874 Harbor Landing, Port Clinton.
The Schwans love animals and have long been animal advocates. Tonya Tack heads a non-profit dog rescue group and manages a veterinary clinic. The couple has long worked for and volunteered at humane societies.
