Sean O’Brien of Castalia clocked 21:43 and Oak Harbor’s Tara Haley finished in 23:17 to capture the top awards at the 6th annual Bras for a Cause 5K Run/Walk at Magruder Hospital on Saturday morning. The race was in honor of Mimi Campbell, a long-time Magruder employee and Director of Nursing who lost her battle with cancer is 2010. The Campbell Family — Amy Howert and Chris and Scott Campbell — manned the finish line as volunteers for the race, which benefits the Magruder Hospital Foundation for cancer patients in need. A crowd of 48 runners and walkers hit the pavement at Magruder Hospital on Saturday morning in the Bras for a Cause 5K, with Sean O’Brien (21:43) of Castalia and Oak Harbor’s Tara Haley (23:17) running to victory in the men’s and women’s divisions. Second in the men’s division was Evan Bolander of Toledo, while Lisa Campbell Chura was second in the women’s division. The top walkers were Brandy (48:27) and Lilly Escobedo (48:39) of Gibsonburg.
Winners in the female age divisions were: Alivia Mooney, Port Clinton (14 and under), 23:17; Amy Pugh, Port Clinton (25 to 29), 24:49; Courtney Gill, Port Clinton (30 to 34), 28:08; Kat Fellhauer (35 to 39), 35:07; Laura Muller, Marblehead (40 to 44), 25:10; Amy Reese, Sandusky (45 to 49); 28:24; Lisa Chura, Port Clinton (55 to 59), 23:47; Sabine Bellgardt, Westlake, Ohio (60 to 64); 33:13; and Sue Mizener, Port Clinton (64 and over), 52:21.
In the men’s categories, the winners were: Ethan Mooney, Port Clinton (14 and under), 47:10; Kevin Haley, Oak Harbor (30 to 34), 53:08; Evan Bolander, Toledo (35 to 39), 22:38; Jim Evans (45 to 49), 29:52; Gary Fernandes, Port Clinton (50 to 54), 32:02; and Tom Evans, Oregon (65 and over), 29:22.
