FREMONT – Enjoy a performance of one of William Shakespeare’s beloved plays beneath the trees at Spiegel Grove, an arboretum and estate of President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes, for three showings on Aug. 11 – 13.
Regional actors will perform an adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11; at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13.
The play is a tale of love and mischief that follows three couples in love. When a community of spirits and fairies get involved, confusion and mayhem ensue.
The verandah of the historic Hayes Home will be the stage. This adaptation will take place during the Gilded Age, the time when Hayes was president. Admission is free. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Popcorn and bottled water will be available.
Shakespeare at the Grove is sponsored by Mosser Construction, Inc., and the Law Office of Philip T. Wylkan.
This performance comes after area actors performed a dramatic reading of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” in April in the Hayes Presidential auditorium.
Hayes Presidential is located at Spiegel Grove at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues. For information, call 419-332-2081, or visit rbhayes.org.
