Sharon Ruth Heinberger (nee Petersen), 78, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully at Englewood Community Hospital, Fla., on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
Sharon was born on Sept. 23, 1943, to the late Richard N. Petersen and Eva Jean (Vollmer) Petersen in Port Clinton. She was preceded in death by her brother, David R. Petersen. She grew up on Catawba Island, graduated from Port Clinton High School and attended The Ohio State University. Always
artistic, Sharon had a flair for interior design, a passion for astrology, and was the keeper of the Vollmer/Petersen Family history. After living in Massachusetts and Columbus, Sharon was able to build her dream house on Sandusky Bay, where she and her husband, Michael Heinberger lived for more than 15 years. Her home was truly her happy place where she enjoyed the wildlife, nature and the view of Lake Erie. She cherished all the moments she spent with her daughters and her grandchildren throughout the years.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Lori (nee Samuto) Dininni and Kimberly (nee Samuto) Jacobs (Yvonne Slade); grandchildren, Jeremy, Juliet, Sofia, Alexander and Richard and nephew Russell N. Petersen (Sarah); and former spouse Andrew Samuto (Sharon A.).
A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to wildlife refuge Back to the Wild, Inc., at backtothewild.org or PO Box 423, 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, Ohio 44824.
You are Forever in our hearts and we will miss you deeply. -Yvonne & Kim
