The Ottawa County Improvement Corporation (ocic.biz) announced that Chris Singerling has been named by the organization as the Economic Development Director. The OCIC Executive Board believes Singerling has the experience and motivation to lead the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation in the fulfillment of its mission and, most importantly, a strong, positive impact in the community.
Singerling comes to the OCIC with a strong background in strategic planning, public policy, and a passion for economic development. He previously served with the Associated Builders and Contractors as Senior Director of Political Affairs for nearly 12 years.
Most recently, Singerling served as the Operations Manager for the Orchard Bar & Table in Catawba Island Township. Singerling has lived in Ottawa County for the last few years, with family members residing in the county.
“We believe we have found an excellent addition to the OCIC team in Chris, whose experience, skills, and passion for economic development and this community make him a great fit for the position,” said Ken Williams, OCIC Executive Board President. “Chris is excited about joining the organization and welcomes the opportunity to meet with business owners, community leaders, and all other interested parties as soon as possible.”
A Michigan native, Singerling has been at the crossroads of economic development for 20 years, developing partnerships, establishing programs at national and local levels, and representing employers of all sizes and proven success in leading collaborative initiatives.
“His passion for the community and its success is apparent and he will be a key figure in enhancing and moving the organization forward,” said Williams.
Growing up on Lake Michigan in a collaborative community with a mix of tourism, manufacturing, and agriculture, Williams says Singerling understands what makes Ottawa County unique and desirable to the business community and the individuals that live here. Singerling officially began his new role on Wednesday.
The Ottawa County Improvement Corporation serves as the lead economic development agency by advancing, encouraging, and promoting the industrial, economic commercial and civic development of Ottawa County.
