VICKERY— Port Clinton lost to Margaretta, 9-4, but the Redskins got the opportunity to play at Bob Gray’s “Field of Dreams.”
After Port Clinton opened with a run in the top of the first inning, the Polar Bears scored three runs to take the lead for good and pushed the advantage to 7-2 after three innings.
Ben Palomo got the win for Margaretta, allowing two runs on two hits in six innings and striking out 13 batters.
Palomo, Jordan Luzader and Austin Dillery each had a double to help pace the Bears.
Garrett Cornell had two RBIs to led the ‘Skins.
Redskin girls fall to Bellevue
PORT CLINTON — Maci Smythe had four hits and got the win, allowing no runs on one hit in Bellevue’s 10-0 win over Bellevue.
The Lady Red 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning and put the game away with four runs.
Kyra Henney went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs.
Margaretta 2, Port Clinton 1
CASTALIA — Mariah Fields singled to drive in Phoebe Dreschel in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Margaretta defeated Port Clinton, 2-1.
It was a pitchers’ duel between Fields and Ashton Sanchez. Fields allowed one unearned and struck out 12 while Sanchez allowed two runs and struck out four.
Alliyah Wharton and Isabella Cross both tripled for the Redskins.
Port Clinton 5, Fremont Ross 4
PORT CLINTON — Ashton Sanchez had the game-winning hit and got the win, helping Port Clinton to a 5-4 victory over Fremont Ross.
With the score tied 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Sanchez hit a double to score Kenzie Martinez.
Sanchez struck out 14 batters and went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Addisynne Siefke hit an RBI double, Alliyah Wharton had a home run and Isabella Cross hit a triple.
