Sober Sunday is a free community workout that will benefit Light House Sober Living.

CrossFit Port Clinton is helping locals kickstart a new year of health with free community events.

CrossFit Port Clinton owners Lexis and Brett Bauer are ready to help locals kick off a new year of better health while supporting the local recovery community at the same time. On Jan. 7, CrossFit Port Clinton will host Sober Sunday, a free community workout that benefits Light House Sober Living.

“It’s a workout that’s free to anyone, but we encourage donations. One hundred percent of the donations will be given to Light House Sober Living,” Lexis said.

The donations will fund renovations on Light House’s third sober living home, which is currently under renovation.

Sober Sunday also gives locals a chance to experience the CrossFit gym as they move toward a healthier new year.

“The great thing about CrossFit is, you just have to show up,” Lexis said. “The classes are one-hour long and include a warmup, a strength portion and a workout.”

Locals have a second opportunity to experience CrossFit during Coffee and Conversation, a free workout and nutrition seminar on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 8 a.m.

“It’s free for everyone. We’ll do a workout and walk you through how to live a healthier lifestyle,” Lexis said.

Nutrition, Lexis said, is an integral part of healthy living.

“Brett does the nutrition coaching at the gym. He’s phenomenal at meeting you where you’re at. It’s not a 180. He helps you focus on one thing you can change each week, which leads to sustainable results. It’s not a diet; it’s a lifestyle.”

CrossFit Port Clinton is at 116 E. 2nd St. in Port Clinton. For more information, visit or call 419-635-8117.
