To the Editor:
After the unbelievable emotional experience I enjoyed during the “grass roots parade” past my house last Monday, I would like to express the gratitude I feel to my dear friends for this outpouring of love and support. It was totally unexpected and I am humbled beyond belief!
It took a little while for me to realize that the parade was actually for me! Debbie Tester took a video of the entire event and posted it on Facebook, but not everyone has access to Facebook or the Internet. Therefore, I have asked Publisher John Schaffner if he would be so kind to publish this thank you note in the Beacon.
Due to a recent unfavorable cancer diagnosis and the coronavirus “sheltering in place” restrictions, my Bucket List has virtually disappeared. This parade past my house — with police cars, fire trucks, ambulances and about 35 to 40 cars honking their horns and waving signs, banners, balloons and flags in my honor — was the best thing in the world to replace that Bucket List!
May I express my love, appreciation and gratitude to everyone who organized and participated in this awesome event. Your love means the world to me!
Blessings to you,
Ida Hahn, Port Clinton
