To the Editor:
What an achievement! When I visited the area during that time frame, I always looked forward to picking up a copy of The Beacon. It was a must have whenever we were in the area. We relied on it for events that were happening while we visited and especially the ads for restaurants as we decided where to have meals.
You created such a unique and colorful weekly paper that we became addicted to it. Like a book, there’s something special about holding it in your hands to read it. It is such a treat to be able to read it online when I’m not in the area to pick up a copy.
When I started writing years later, you have always been such a supporter in publicizing the release of my new novels. I can never thank you enough. One of the reasons my protagonist is an investigative reporter is due to my admiration for those in the newspaper business and their efforts to dig for the facts.
I admire you for your accomplishment and your positive support of the community, John Schaffner. Again, congratulations!
With deepest respect,
