To the Editor:
The Ottawa County Department of Job and Family Services would like to thank all of the community members who have worked and contributed to meet the needs of the less fortunate this holiday season. This year has been a challenge to many, and despite that, it is refreshing to see the outpouring of support for those in need. Your efforts demonstrate what it means to live in our caring and giving community.
Christmastime is normally a time of joy and excitement, but for children in foster care, there are a lot of obstacles to overcome. Thanks to some extremely generous hearts this year, Ottawa County’s foster children were able to share the joy of the holiday.
A huge “Thank You” to the Ottawa County Realtors, for their continued annual support in making sure that every one of our foster children received gifts for Christmas. Another huge “Thank You” to One Church and Father’s Heart, who organized a statewide campaign to ensure teens in foster care in Ohio received gift cards, as they are often overlooked.
“Thank You” to the Ohio State Trooper’s Association for donated goods and gifts. And a final “Thank You” to the staff at the Ottawa County Department of Job and Family Services for donating when last minute families in need were identified or ensuring that an older individual living in isolation had a gift for the holiday.
Thank you for making sure our vulnerable community members can experience Christmas, and for showing that kindness exists in this world.
