Sprint Cars season opener rescheduled

The Holly, Michigan-based Must-See Racing (MSR) 410 National Series Sprint Cars, along with the MSR Midwest Lights (Crate Sprint Cars), have rescheduled their season-opening event at Sandusky Speedway to Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11. This will be the first time that the MSR 410 Sprint Cars have been back to the historic half-mile Sandusky Speedway since August 25, 2019. Jimmy McCune, who is a five-time series champion, was the MSR 410 Sprint Car feature winner on that night. The MSR Midwest Lights were in action at Sandusky Speedway in October 2022.

This will be the start of the 2024 season for the MSR 410 National Series and the Midwest Lights Series. Jason Blonde is the defending 410 national champion. Cody Gallogly is the two-time MSR Midwest Lights champion. The entry list has not yet been released. There is a large number of sprint cars making the trip from Florida to Ohio, and there are over 30 winged sprint cars expected with teams from eight states and Canada.

On Friday, May 10, the pit gates open at noon. A driver meeting is at 2:30 p.m. The Open Practice session will start at 3 p.m., with the divisions rotating until 8:30 p.m. There will be a pit party/cookout at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, May 11, the pit gates will open again at noon. The driver meeting is at 1:30 p.m. The hot lap sessions will start at 2 p.m. There will be two sessions each for the Ohio Wheelman Modified Series, All-American Iron, MSR Midwest Lights and the MSR 410 Sprint Cars. The MSR Sprint Cars will qualify at 6 p.m.

The racing program will start at 7 p.m., with heat races for the Ohio Wheelman Modified Series and the All-American Iron. The MSR Midwest Lights and the MSR Sprint Cars will have eight-lap heat races. Feature races will start after a short intermission. The MSR Midwest Lights have a 30-lap feature race. The MSR Midwest Lights have a 30-lap, $3,000 to win feature race.

Adult general admission on Saturday, May 11, is $15. Admission is $10 for veterans and ages 6-12. Admission is free for ages 5 and younger. Sandusky Speedway is located at 614 W.
