Stephen J “Jimmy” Monak died Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Tidewell Hospice, Venice, Fla.
Steve is survived by wife, Barbara; children: Nadeane, Stephanie (Jeff), and Stephen (Amy); step-children: Ben (Melanie), Andrea (Dryden), Jon (Lanah); grandchildren: Sarah (Alec), Jacob, namesake James “Jack,” Noelle, Kendall, Harper, Avery; great-grandchildren: Emmett, Noah; sister Monica; nieces, nephew and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents: Stephen and Veronica; and sister, Veronica.
Steve was born June 4, 1940, in the family home in the Jamestown neighborhood, Marblehead. He graduated from Danbury High School, and proudly served in the U.S. Army. His career at Ford Motor Co, Sandusky, spanned 40 years. Steve was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Marblehead all his life, serving as altar server, usher, committee member, and custodian in his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post #555 Marblehead. Steve enjoyed an active retirement, caring for his home and yard, working at Lakeside & traveling. Steve will always be remembered for his devotion to Family & Faith, love of Fords, stories of old Marblehead and the U.S. Army.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Osprey, Fla. Notice of the funeral mass & interment in Spring 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Marblehead is forthcoming. Tributes to Steve may be made to: Tidewell Hospice, Venice, Fla.; Nationwide Children’s or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals; or the Marblehead Lighthouse.
