Storytime, After School Fun featured in January at Oak Harbor Library

Young readers have lots to do in January at the Oak Harbor Public Library, 147 W. Main St., Oak Harbor. Storytime for Preschoolers is held every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the children’s area of the library. After School Fun events include Spa Week of Jan. 2-5; Gears, Gears, Gears, the week of Jan. 16-19; and Crayon Fun the week of Jan. 22-26.

Library Hours: Monday – Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p..m. The library will be closed Jan. 1 for New Years and Jan. 15 for Martin Luther King’s Day.

Just for Adults:

New, Tai Chi for beginners. Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m., in the lower level. Video led.

Funeral Planning 101. Saturday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. Think ahead and ease the stress of planning from your family in a time of grief. Presented by John Crosser. Register at or call 419-898-7001.

Puzzle Exchange starting Jan. 6. Bring your gently used puzzles into the library with all the pieces, receive a ticket stating how many puzzles you brought in. On Saturday Jan. 20, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., bring your ticket back to the library and pick out your new to you puzzles.

60 Plus Clinic at the library. Provided by the Ottawa County Health Department, Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clinic provides basic services to people 60+ such as blood pressure screening, cholesterol screening, and health education at no charge. Snowman Craft, Monday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. Register to attend at or by calling 419-898-7001.

Computer Lessons are available on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Friday at 2 p.m., or by appointment at 419-898-7001.

Watercolor on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. Bring your own supplies.

Needle Crafts Group on Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Bring your own supplies.

Pinochle every Friday at 2 p.m.

Book Clubs:

“Coffee and a Book”, meets on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 11 a.m., in the library fireplace room. Pick up Coronation Year by Jennifer Robson, an enthralling royal historical novel to read and join us for a discussion.

The 4th Tuesday Book Club will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m. at the library. Pick up The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse a thriller set in a beautiful, eerie, Swiss Alps hotel, read and join us for a discussion.

The Local History & Museum Center is open, Thursdays: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. A local historian is on site most Thursdays.
