Downtown Port Clinton was adorably spooky on Oct. 26 as dozens of kids flooded the sidewalks for Downtown Trick or Treat. Businesses passed out candy to princesses, skeletons and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The fun got to be a bit much for K9 Aldo of the Port Clinton Police Department, so he sacked out in a cruiser before the kids had left.

But before that, he was having a ball.

“He likes dressing up, and he liked all the costumes,” said K9 Officer Amy Pugh. “But he was a little confused by the blowup costumes.”

Cops like candy, too. Officer Pugh, who passed out candy with other officers, said sour candy is her favorite.

“I like anything chocolate,” said Detective Devin Woods. “We’ve had a good turnout here. There have been a lot of kids.”

Among those kids was eight-year-old Charleigh Taylor, who was dressed as a hippie.

“I came up with this costume because my parents were hippies,” she said.

Her parents, Shaianne and Gage Taylor, explained that they weren’t ever actual hippies.

“We were hippies for Halloween when we were her age,” Shaianne said.

Six-year-old Luna Drum walked – and danced – through downtown Port Clinton with her trick-or-treat bucket hoping to get her favorite candy, SweeTARTS. She was dressed as Wednesday Addams.

“I can do her dance,” she said.

Drum said she chose a Wednesday Addams costume because “she’s one of my favorite characters.”

“I like her because my favorite color is black, and she always wears black,” Drum said.
