OAK HARBOR – The Ottawa County Task Force on Aging will host the Summit on Aging on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 122 W. Ottawa St. in Oak Harbor. Registration and light breakfast items will start at 8:30 a.m., and the presentations will be from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Ottawa County Summit on Aging is held annually to educate the public about issues impacting seniors, including abuse, neglect and exploitation. This year we are focusing on Financial Exploitation and Scams, which are now the number one reported issue for Adult Protective Services in Ohio.
We will have speakers from the Office of the Attorney General, Croghan Colonial Bank, Commodore Perry Federal Credit Union, Legal Aid of Western Ohio and a support organization called FightCybercrime.org. Participants will learn about financial exploitation in our area, what all is involved in financial scams, tips on prevention and what to do if you are scammed. There will be a resource table at the event with free information and resources for anyone who attends.
Please RSVP to 567-262-3174 or ottawacoaging@gmail.com. There is a $5 suggested donation, but this is not required.
