We had a very neat experience on Saturday evening in Lakeside at the performance of the OSU Marching Band Alumni. In November of 2016, TBDBITL played at Port Clinton High School, and this very nice young lady sat behind us as a spectator. Her name was Morgan Davis. I took her picture.

Last Saturday night she performed at Hoover Auditorium as the incoming Assistant Drum Major for the Buckeye Marching Band. I took her picture again. She was surprised when she saw a photo of herself from 2016! Go Morgan!Go Buckeyes!

It’s the annual Peach, Perch, Pierogi and Polka Festival this
weekend at the Denny Bergeman K of C Hall in Port Clinton. Enjoy the music and the great eats!

Voting has officially begun for the 2019 “Best of the Best” of Ottawa County, hosted annually by The Beacon. In fact, this is the last week. The ballot is posted in The Beacon as well as online at

Rick Orovirtz of Port Clinton and Oregon is our winner this week in our “Find Wylie” contest. He was chosen from among 99 entries who successfully found our friendly fish hidden inside the ad for the Rock the Light concert on Page 5A in The Beacon last week. So, Rick wins a $25 gas card graciously donated by Friendship Stores. Each week we hide Wylie Walleye in an ad and our readers, when one of them finds him, can either bring in a contest entry cut out of the paper or log onto our website … … and let us know where he is, thus entering, and possibly winning the contest.

This is a HUGE weekend at Resort at Erie Landing just southwest of Port Clinton. Friday night the popular band The Menus will be performing as a benefit for the Lighthouse Sober Living homes. Saturday night, it’s the Bob Seeger tribute band, “Looking Back.” The $20 tickets for the events and can be acquired by calling REL at 419-734-2460 by tonight (Thursday, Aug. 29).
