For a lot of years, the New Departure Hyatt Bearings plant in Sandusky was a major employer locally. Now it is being torn down. I pass the demolition process every day when I drive to Sandusky to visit Mary Alice. It is kind of sad.
The ”Doing Good Gala” Live Auction fundraiser supporting the Ottawa County Community Foundation is coming up on Tuesday, July 25 starting at 6 p.m. at Catawba Island Club. They will have a strolling supper, live music, fabulous sunsets and a live auction with a lot of interesting and unique items. For more information or to make reservations, contact www.ottawaccf.org.
Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, 110 Main St. in Marblehead, will be hosting “Market Days” this Saturday, July 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until they are sold out. Lots of good things to eat.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Port Clinton Area Chamber’s Jerry Lippus Memorial Classic Car Show planned for Saturday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Madison Street in downtown Port Clinton. The cost is $15 and the first 100 cars registered receive a free dash plaque.
