Last weekend was “Christmas at the Bay” which has become a HUGE weekend on South Bass Island. I read on the Cleveland Plain Dealer website that additional law enforcement personnel needed to be called in for crowd control. I’m glad they were able to get through it.
Please send prayers to Hazel Brown, son of Wesley and Leeah Brown and granddaughter of Bill Brown. She was diagnosed on Fourth of July with a brain tumor at the age of 3. Please send her prayers for the radiation treatment that she is receiving for six weeks. Prayers can also be listed on the website www.spotfund.com/story.
The Port Clinton Knights of Columbus 18th annual Perch, Peach, Pierogi and Polka Festival is right around the corner! Loose ends are being tied and the festivities are coming together nicely. The next Core Committee meeting will be held before the Business Meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. All the members are working diligently to make the festival a success again. If you feel moved to help with the festival in any way, please reach out. There is always something to do!
The Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters will be having their annual fall kickoff picnic and membership drive on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 4:30 p.m. at Rocket Stadium. The Athletic Boosters do an awesome job of supporting the Athletic Department with purchases of uniforms, awards and major equipment purchases just to name a few.

The Danbury High School Class of 1973 will be holding their 50th Reunion on Saturday, July 29 at Wee Willy’s. They are still trying to track down some classmates and faculty so please spread the word. The fun begins at 3:30 p.m. with a tour of the High School, then a pub crawl at 4:30 p.m. starting at the High School. They will meet up at Wee Willy’s at 302 W Main St. in Marblehead for food, drinks, raffles and reminiscing at 6 p.m.

The 30th Anniversary of the Port Clinton Area Chamber’s Jerry Lippus Memorial Classic Car Show is planned for Saturday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. on Madison Street in downtown Port Clinton. The cost is $15 and the first 100 cars registered receive a free dash plaque.
