Last weekend was “Christmas at the Bay” which has become a HUGE weekend on South Bass Island. I read on the Cleveland Plain Dealer website that additional law enforcement personnel needed to be called in for crowd control. I’m glad they were able to get through it.

Please send prayers to Hazel Brown, son of Wesley and Leeah Brown and granddaughter of Bill Brown. She was diagnosed on Fourth of July with a brain tumor at the age of 3.  Please send her prayers for the radiation treatment that she is receiving for six weeks. Prayers can also be listed on the website www.spotfund.com/story.

The Port Clinton Knights of Columbus 18th annual Perch, Peach, Pierogi and Polka Festival is right around the corner! Loose ends are being tied and the festivities are coming together nicely. The next Core Committee meeting will be held before the Business Meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. All the members are working diligently to make the festival a success again. If you feel moved to help with the festival in any way, please reach out. There is always something to do!

The Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters will be having their annual fall kickoff picnic and membership drive on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 4:30 p.m. at Rocket Stadium. The Athletic Boosters do an awesome job of supporting the Athletic Department with purchases of uniforms, awards and major equipment purchases just to name a few.

Please consider becoming a Booster. All of the Rocket Athletic Teams benefit from their generous support. If you have any questions or are willing to donate your time in the concession stand, please contact one of the NEW booster officers.

The Danbury High School Class of 1973 will be holding their 50th Reunion on Saturday, July 29 at Wee Willy’s. They will meet up at Wee Willy’s at 302 W Main St. in Marblehead for food, drinks, raffles and reminiscing at 6 p.m.

If you are coming, please bring a side dish or appetizer to share along with any memorabilia. Please join and check out the “Danbury Class of 1973 50th Reunion” on Facebook or contact Ruthe Merckens Toncar at 330-398-2691, rtoncar@neo.rr.com or Debbie Biers Sandvick at 419-706-4178.

The 30th Anniversary of the Port Clinton Area Chamber’s Jerry Lippus Memorial Classic Car Show is planned for Saturday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. on Madison Street in downtown Port Clinton. There is still time to get your vehicle registered. Call the Chamber Office at 419-734-5503 or visit PortClintonChamber.com.  The cost is $15 and the first 100 cars registered receive a free dash plaque.

The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help with the 2023 Apple Festival. If you can help, call Valerie at the Chamber. Also, their August “Business After Hours” will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Croghan Colonial Bank.
