The $1.6 million renovation project for Port Clinton Yacht Club was passed on Sunday by the membership. The actual renovation is scheduled to begin in October.
The Port Clinton High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct the Class of 2021 on Saturday, Sept. 11at the Hall of Fame Banquet at 5 p.m. at the Port Clinton Elks Lodge.. This year’s class includes the 2009-10 State Runner-up Boys Basketball Team; 2004-05 4×100 Girls Track Relay – Shari Kreutzfeld, Kari Kreutzfeld, Kelly Logsdon Shirkey, Ashley Taylor; Andrew Lemmon, Boys Basketball; and Macy Caldwell – Girls Track.
Tickets are on sale in the Port Clinton High School Main Office for $20 each from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. on school days. Tickets for the event need to be purchased prior to Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. All tickets must be purchased in advance as no walk-ins will be accepted. For more information call 419-734-2147.
Inductees will also be introduced at the Port Clinton football game on Friday , Sept. 10 as part of the PCHS Football game vs. Toledo Bowser.
The Oak Harbor Rotary will be hosting a special “Back to School” Scholarship Chicken Barbecue this Sunday at Veterans Park starting at 11 a.m. They will serve until all the chicken is gone! Tickets are $10 per meal and can be purchased at the Oak Harbor Veterinary Clinic.

So sad to learn of the passing of Nick James, a brilliant local cinematographer. I first met Nick when he was the manager for the Skyway Restaurant on Put-in-Bay. He was way too young.

The Port Clinton School District Board has scheduled a special board meeting on Friday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton. The board has accepted applications to fill the unexpired term of decades-long board member Barb Drusbacky, who recently died after a long battle with cancer.
The Magruder Auxiliary is hosting an online Jewelry Sale fundraiser through today (Thursday, Aug. 19). The Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce will take to the links for its annual golf outing at Catawba Island Club on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Presented by Ken Gill Construction, the 18-hole challenge is open to the public. There will also be a lot of other fun activities, including skill contests, skins, a poker run and mulligans. The fee is $125 per player with teams of four, and includes 18 holes, donuts and coffee, a box lunch, dinner, a club golf cart and a Chamber of Commerce gift. Port Clinton High School will be offering All-Sports Passes for the 2021-22 School Year. The cost of the Pass is $75 for Adults and $25 for Students. The Pass is good for all Home HS and MS Athletic Events for the 21-22 School Year. These Passes are on sale Mon.- Fri. from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the Main Office at the High School.
Terra State Community College has released the Dean’s List for the summer 2021 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must be full-time, with a minimum of twelve credit hours, and a minimum GPA of 3.5. Congratulations to Bristel Duffett of Port Clinton for making the list.
