Danbury Township voters last November took a budget shortfall to heart, approving a small .56 mill real estate tax levy to pay for services and operations. Because it was short of cash, Danbury had to cancel its trio of Clean-Up Weeks, as well as the Danbury Township Newsletter.
The close-knit community passed the levy by a 53-47 margin, and Danbury officials scheduled the popular Clean-Up Weeks for April 22-26, July 15-19 and Oct. 21-25. There will be changes posted in the Spring Township Newsletter.
The Clean-Up Weeks will be Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Township workers will provide help in unloading materials to be tossed away from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, with the clean-up ending on Friday at 11 a.m. Residents are asked not to drop off tires, brush, oil, paint, batteries, boats or vehicles or propane tanks.
The Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste Management District has scheduled its 2019 recycling events, including the Ottawa County Fairgrounds location in Oak Harbor. Ottawa County will accept household hazardous waste on May 4 and Sept. 7; televisions and electronics on May 11 and Sept. 28; appliances on June 8; farm tires on Aug. 12-23; and residential tires on Oct. 19.
