An easy easy way to plant quality native trees and shrubs is through the Ottawa Soil & Water Conservation District, which is taking orders for a wide variety of plants for spring delivery.

Deadline for ordering is April 1at www.ottawaswcd.com or by calling 419-898-1595.

Evergreen varieties are sold in packets of 10 and include: Colorado Blue Spruce, and Norway Spruce. This year fast-growing Green Rocket Cedar will be sold individually. These cedars will grow up to 3 feet per year, are deer resistant, have a strong root system, and no major insect problems. They make a great windbreak or privacy screen.

Also offered are the following varieties: Shellbark Hickory, Bald Cypress, Arborvitae, Black Gum, Tulip Poplar, Sycamore, Bur Oak, Skyrise, Red Oak, and Red Maple.

Back for a third year is the Wildlife Tree Pack, Pollinator Tree Pack, and a Nut Tree Pack which includes five different types of native trees to produce the perfect native habitat.

Prices range from $12 to $35. For an order form or questions, please call the Ottawa SWCD office at 419-898-1595. It encourages early ordering because supplies are limited. Money raised from the program goes to support District Education Programs throughout the year.
