The Vanguard Sentinel Aspire Program is accepting new adult students interested in obtaining a General Educational Development Test (GED), which consists of four subject tests that help earn a high school equivalency credential. The four subjects are language arts, math, social studies and science.
A GED improves skills in preparation for college, a career, an apprenticeship, a certificate training program, or additional workforce training.
Upcoming orientations are scheduled in Oak Harbor, Fremont and Fostoria. Aspire classes are free for adults. Orientation to the Aspire program is required before starting classes. During orientation, students work with an instructor to set goals, complete placement testing, and develop an individualized learning plan.
Orientation dates are: Ottawa County Resource Centre in Oak Harbor on July 18, 20 and 25 at 9 a.m.; Vanguard Adult Workforce Development Center in Fremont on July 11, 13 and 18 at 9 a.m. or 5 p.m.; and Fostoria Learning Center in Fostoria on July 11, 13 and 18 at 12:30 p.m. or 5 p.m.
