For a few hours, the many local heroes who served their country will be served in gratitude, thanks to Crown Battery and Hal and Diane Hawk. Military veterans are invited to the 3rd Annual Veterans Day Lunch on Friday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jet Express/Port Clinton Island Port Terminal.

The luncheon is open to any veteran and their guest. No registration is required.

The luncheon began when the Hawks approached Bistro 163 General Manager Babs Klacik with a desire to honor veterans.

“Diane and Hal came to us and said, ‘We want to do something for Veterans Day. What can we do?’” Klacik said. “Diane called the Jet and they said we could use their building.”

Bistro 163 will cater the event. The menu will include pork tenderloin, three-cheese manicotti, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, roll and a dessert of apple crisp or pumpkin bars.

The Veterans Day Lunch is sponsored by Crown Battery, Bistro 163, Jet Express and Port Clinton High School Leadership Council.
