Sightseeing seats can be booked for Saturday, Aug. 20 on the WWII Douglas C-47 Skytrain “Hairless Joe” military airplane at the Erie-Ottawa International Airport Vintage Airplane & Car Show.

The public is invited to attend the Erie-Ottawa International Airport Vintage Airplane & Car Show in Port Clinton on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature a number of classic and unique cars and planes.

“The cars don’t have to be classics. There will be all kinds of cool vehicles,” said Erie-Ottawa International Airport Director Clay Finken. “Anything with a cool motor is welcome.”

The event is free to spectators. A $10 registration fee will be charged for vehicles entered in the show. Registered car owners will receive free coffee and donuts while supplies last and will be entered to win gas cards and door prizes.

Sightseeing flights on Yankee Air Museum’s WWII Douglas C-47 Skytrain “Hairless Joe” will be available for $225 per person. The C-47 Hairless Joe was utilized on every continent during WWII, and former U.S. President and WWII General Dwight D. Eisenhower called it “one of the most vital pieces of military equipment used in winning the war.” Flights take off at 11 a.m. and noon. Tickets can be purchased online at

Food trucks, including one serving Lake Erie yellow perch and a burger truck, will be on site. The Tin Goose Diner at the Liberty Aviation Museum adjacent to the airport, will open for the event, as will the Liberty Aviation Museum and PX Gift Shop. Music will be provided by Cruisin Zeake.

“There will be lots of fun and food,” Finken said.
