Virginia Mae Cordy, 93, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 29, 1927 in Monroe, MI to John M. and Ruth M. (Stewart) Hutting. In 1980 she married Kenneth J. Cordy and he preceded her in death in 2007. Virginia previously worked as a waitress at Midway in Bowling Green, as a switch board operator, self-employed at Cordy’s Home Wood Products, and she also worked at several area manufacturing factories. Virginia enjoyed oil painting, crystals and rock hounding, traveling, and knitting & crocheting kids clothes. She and Kenny would do woodworking projects and rock hunting together. She was a member of the Spring River Gem and Mineral Club, Spring River Artist Club, and Port Clinton Artist Club, where she won several ribbons and awards for her painting.
Virginia is survived by her children, Shirley Beckley of Oak Harbor, Norman “Skip” (Trina) Knitz of Bradner, and Becky (Tim) Powell of Oak Harbor; 8 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 22 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Loree Hartman; and sister, Ruth Kupniewski.
A Celebration of Life for Virginia will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Virginia may be given to the Humane Society of Ottawa County or the American Cancer Society.
