PORT CLINTON – The annual Port Clinton Walleye Drop Committee, of the Wylie Walleye Foundation, is looking for volunteers. This happens occasionally as committee members get older and personal situations change. To continue the event, this 31st year and for the years to come, we need the community’s help.
The remaining three members have scheduled a meeting at the Port Clinton Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 109 E. Perry St. in Port Clinton, on July 7 at 5:30 p.m. The committee wants to get the word out to as many local residents and businesses as possible.
The Walleye Drop has been a wonderful marketing tool for Port Clinton as seen on the David Letterman show in the 1990s, when Letterman proclaimed that the Walleye Drop is one of the most unique New Year’s Eve events in the United States. Money raised from this event has also contributed to multiple organizations over the years.
Any persons interested in attending the reorganization meeting on July 7, please RSVP by email. The Foundation can be reached at either allureoh@aol.com or wyliewalleyefoundation@gmail.com.
With renewed energy from the community, the Walleye Drop can become bigger and better.
