Wayne F. “Gordy” Gardner, 74, passed away July 30, in Westlake. He was born March 21, 1947 in Port Clinton, the son of Leo and Margaret (Dzurnak) Gardner. He graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1965 and served his country in the United States Navy. He married Melba J. Snider on Feb. 6, 1970, and she preceded him in death on August 28, 1998. Wayne retired from NASA Lewis Research Center which later became Glenn Research Center. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Surviving are his daughters: Laura (Keith) Wareheim of Ona, WV, Lisa (Dave) Arndt of Lorain; son: Scott Gardner of Centerburg; grandchildren: Keyana Stafford, Ryan Wareheim, Jacob Wayne Arndt, Chase Gardner, Evan Gardner; brother: Robert (Frances) Gardner of Port Clinton; sisters: Jean (Dean) Whiteside of Oak Harbor, Carol (Jerry) Olah of Toledo. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Peace Lutheran Church, 900 Jefferson St. Port Clinton, where visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, with military honors. Rev. Dane Meuschke will be officiating.
