Wear sunscreen, get skin checked!

Savvy outdoors folks who enjoy boating, fishing, swimming or an afternoon on the beach know that you must dress to avoid exposure to the sun and always wear your sunscreen. The sun can be hard on your skin and you can’t take chances, especially as you grow older.

The best choice is to be tested early and often. Basal cell skin cancer and the even more viral squamous cell carcinoma are the two most common skin cancers, and the latter has a tendency to spread quickly.

Magruder Hospital & Dermatology Partners will hold a free Skin Cancer Screening by appointment on Friday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. Appointments can be made by calling 419-732-4061.  Michelle Bodie, PA-C, from Dermatology Partners will be providing the screening, which will be held at their clinic behind the hospital in the Urgent Care Building, Suite 300.
