OAK HARBOR – B-C-S students got a sneak peek at their new school year during a Back to School Open House at Oak Harbor Intermediate School and R. C. Waters Elementary on Aug. 17. Students had the opportunity to meet their teachers, see their classrooms, find their lockers, and reconnect with their friends. That, said second grader Dezlynn Prieur, is the best thing about school.
“I like reading, but I like seeing my friends the best,” she said.
Dezlynn’s brother, Dawson Prieur, was looking forward to something else.
“I like recess the best,” he said.
Second grade teacher, Amber Koren, greeted her incoming students with smiles and hugs, including Tegan Maxwell.

“I am super excited to have Tegan in my class,” Koren said.
Tegan’s mother, Maria Maxwell, said the open house makes the transition from summer to school easier on the kids.
“It helps with first day jitters,” Maria said. “It gets them acclimated by letting them talk to their teacher before going back to school.”
Adaline Toris was looking forward to being a fifth grader this school year.
“I think it’s going to be really exciting because I get to have my favorite teacher, Mrs. DeVito,” she said. “She’s really fun, and she’s happy all the time.”
