Rockets rebound from loss, defeat Lakota

OAK HARBOR — Following a tough loss, Oak Harbor needed to bounce back and IT did, defeating Lakota, 62-51, in non-conference action.
The Rockets took a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and held a 28-20 lead at the half. Oak Harbor (4-2) put the game away by outscoring the Raiders, 23-14, in the third quarter to take a 51-34 lead into the fourth.
Jac Alexander led all scorers with 28 points and Connor Hoy finished with nine points, all of them coming on 3-pointer. Carter Reinhart scored 16 points to lead Lakota and Jalen Cofer chipped in with 13.
Vermilion 53, Oak Harbor 50
With the score tied at 50, Seth Hurd stole the ball and scored a layup with just seconds remaining to clinch the victory for Vermilion. Jac Alexander banked in a 3-pointer just before the third-quarter buzzer, but the Sailors (7-1, 4-0 SBC Bay) outscored Oak Harbor, 13-7, in the fourth.
Vermilion led 14-10 after the first quarter but the Rockets fought back and held a 23-22 lead at halftime. Alexander had 27 points to lead all scorers and Clay Schulte scored nine, all coming on 3-pointers. The Sailors’ Mason Montgomery scored 15 points, Reese Miller finished with 14 and Jonah Pfeil chipped iN 11.
Rocket girls fall to Willard
Willard took control from the outset, outscoring Oak Harbor by 32 points in the first half on its way to a 75-38 victory.
The Crimson Flashes (6-2, 2-1 SBC Bay) jumped out to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and led, 45-13, at halftime.
Cassidy Crawford had 25 points to lead all scorers and Presley Feltner scored 14 points.
Oak Harbor’s Logan Harris had 11 points to lead the Rockets.
